I submitted my resume on 3/30/16 and a few hours later I was invited (via email) to their recruitment session which was taking place about a week later (4/6) for which you have to reserve a seat. (btw there were 3 sessions in this state - all one week after the other so if you can't make one, reserve for the next one or whichever one fits you best) On 3/31 I received an email to do their online interview, as well as their required assessment test, which they would prefer you do it before you attend their recruiting event. Moving forward, I had already read some of the interviews on this column which made me feel more at ease and somewhat prepared for what was coming. I attended the session in Houston, TX (no travel expenses are covered btw) and there were about 20-25 of us there. I don't live in Houston, to I had to travel the day before to make sure I would be there on time. If you are serious about getting this job, take all the hints and advice listed below here seriously because they were on point. Surprisingly, not everyone played the part though. It was really surprising to see that more than half of the attendees did not even dress the part. Big NO NO! So look the part. Dress professionally. It is a recruitment session. Treat it as an interview. Upon my arrival, I immediately spotted other applicants that were dresses as professional as I was and I made friends with them. I got there about 30 min prior to the session and it was enough time for me to get to know at least 4 different individuals who were there for the same thing. I knew about the 'introducing your partner" session so it was in my best interested to get to know some people and sit next to one of them once we entered the room. Needless to say, it worked out perfectly because she and I were really comfortable with each other. After all introductions were done, the recruiters (a lady and gentleman from the airline) we were asked to fill out forms which asked "Why you wanted to be a flight attendant" and in 3 words, write how others would describe you as well as just confirming that you agreed with their requirements etc and met all of them in order to move on with the process. Thereafter, we had a Q&A session. ASK away. Stand out. I asked as many questions as I had (I think I asked 3) and they were all valid questions. Once that is done, they asked us to step outside the conference room and head to the lobby. That they would post a list of who would be getting a F2F interview about 20 minutes later. By the way, they were super friendly and make you feel much at ease - so relax - don't be scared if you get on that list. I again gathered with the individuals I had met earlier and we discussed how we think we did and how others presented their partners as well. 20 min later, the recruiter posted the list and we all got an interview. So that left everyone in good spirits. However, we were shocked to see that people that didn't play the part or even fell a sleep (YES slept) through some of the information session got an interview. The recruiters claimed that corporate chooses who gets interviewed and who does not. I don't really know how that works but we figured that if we all got an interview, that the list would be posted in alphabetical order. To my biggest surprise, I was the first one on the list and my last name doesn't begin with an A neither did the person after me. So I was surprised and nervous. Since everyone got a F2F interview, they brought us in in pairs. The lady interviewed the other candidate while I got the gentleman who was very nice. I was asked about 4-5 questions (some candidates were asked about 10) and it just felt like a conversation. After it was done, we were told that it could be 3-6 weeks before we hear back, which is a little bit of a wait, but that is just how they work. So if you make it this far, make sure to sell yourself. Let them know who you are, that you went prepared and are taking the interview seriously. Don't forget to smile the entire time because that is what they have on their faces. A BIG SMILE!! Good luck to all those applying!
