Mesa is currently hiring F/As for their United Express operation out of Chicago-O'hare and Washington-Dulles Airports. I applied through their website which redirects you to AirlineAPPs. Quite lengthy application and pretty detailed and I can understand why now; will explain later. I submitted my application in May (you can only submit an application if they are recruiting) and got an email several weeks later stating they moved forward with other candidates and would keep my application on file for 3 months then I could reapply. I hear this all the time and sort of forgot about it. 2 and 1/2 weeks ago I recieved an invite for one of their info sesions (only way to get into the invite is to actually get an inviation from them). I couldn't attend the one for that week but I did attend the one today (07/09/2010). I was extended the invitation for their CLT session. Mesa DOES NOT fly you positive space like other airlines do to your interview becasue this is technically only an info session although it is standard for them to interview the same day. -Drove to Charlotte that afternoon from Atlanta and arrived at the"Old Airport Terminal" BLDG @ CLT where Mesa's offices are. We were greeted by inflight recruiters Bob and Amy who are extremely nice and really go out their way to make you feel comfortable. We were all (about 14 of us) escorted upstairs to the conference room. They went through a VERY detailed presentation on Mesa, its history, a/c, F/A duties, yada yada yada. Lasted about 55 minutes. We went on break then came back to do a group activity. Won't go into detail but I honestly didnt get the point of the activity itself but they were watching and taking notes (they took notes the entire time). I've heard this about most F/A group sessions @ different companies. Once that was done were broke for another break then they called everyone in 1 by1 for 1:1 interviews. Pretty straightforward; had a binder where they read questions from and took notes. They were all pretty nice but kept to the point and time limit. I noticed some interviews were about 5 minutes, others were 15-20. Mines was one of the 20 minute interviews. Also, the 20 minute interviews was actually 2:1. You would either have Amy or Bob and there was another older lady that I never caught her name but I believe she is the inflight manager for Mesa. Not sure what all that means but I think the longer 2:1s were who they were really considering. Just my opinion. As soon as you walk in the door, they catch you off guard and ask you to read the card on the table.--It is a section of one of the announcements. Mines was a smip from the water landing section. I think it's to see how well you actually read, diction, etc. I know people that have a HS diploma and can barely read. They told us off the bat that ORD and IAD are their junor bases. They also told us we will get an email within 3 days to 2 weeks letting us know if we will be selected for a class or not. So regardless if you were hiried, you will get an email. Don't have to wait for a letter in the mail. Will update when I get the email!!
