I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Meta in Nov 2018
Interview
Applied for SWE positions but never heard back for those positions. Recruiter contacted me for a Data Engineer position because I had a little experience in it. It was a pretty bad experience overall.
1) She didnt book the meeting room long enough so she got kicked out of the conference room and was running around trying to find a room and was at some point panting because she needed to go up so many stairs
2) Didnt have any technical background whatsoever so she asked me to elaborate on everything and speak slow so she could write it all down
3) Tested me with 5 questions but was never told it was going to be technical. 3 were easy 2 of them I didnt know the technical term for but have done it in my previous job
4) Kind of talked to me condescendingly because in my new role I am not a Data Engineer but a SWE backend
5) Didnt offer to look up my old applications (said she has no idea and cant find it in the system) and by old I mean like 2 weeks ago I submitted for 2 positions
Interview questions [1]

2 Very very easy questions
How would you find kth highest number in 2D matrix

The process is straightforward and designed to help us get to know each other. It moves through a few stages at a comfortable pace, involves conversations with several team members, and focuses on making sure it's a good mutual fit.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Meta
Interview
Had an initial recuriter call and then scheduled a coding round with 2 leetcode questions. Practicing Meta-tagged leetcode questions would help prepare for this round. Interviewers expect clear communication and code.
Generic LeetCode-style questions, many tagged as Meta, so extensive preparation is required to perform well in the technical interview. The experience varies significantly - some interviewers provide hints and guidance, while others expect candidates to solve problems independently with minimal assistance.
