I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Meta in Jul 2019
Interview
1 phone screen;
On-site:
1 system design;
2 coding question;
1 BQ + coding
All questions were simple and classical, but it was a little tight to finish 2 coding questions within 45 mins, so you need to be fast. The second round of coding question was kina funny. I made a bug(I felt sorry about it, it was about a condition == k vs == k + 1), and the interviewer was SO EXCITED when he finally could catch something. He typed a lot at his note for the bug... I felt like "com'on, can you try to hide a little your excitement?"
I did not get the offer and the feedback was that coding round had some room for improvement. One my friend who works at FB told me it's not required 100% bug-free, so I can only assume the bar is not consistent. Overall, I feel there is some gap between FB and its major competitor in the interview process. (e.g. how responsive the recruiters are, how professional the interviewers are trained).
The process is straightforward and designed to help us get to know each other. It moves through a few stages at a comfortable pace, involves conversations with several team members, and focuses on making sure it's a good mutual fit.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Meta
Interview
Had an initial recuriter call and then scheduled a coding round with 2 leetcode questions. Practicing Meta-tagged leetcode questions would help prepare for this round. Interviewers expect clear communication and code.
Generic LeetCode-style questions, many tagged as Meta, so extensive preparation is required to perform well in the technical interview. The experience varies significantly - some interviewers provide hints and guidance, while others expect candidates to solve problems independently with minimal assistance.
