I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Meta (Sydney) in Jun 2019
Interview
I've been only through the online coding interview. Yet, since they (quote) "could not see some signals", I had been put through two of those.
The key "signals" they were looking for were testing the code and extreme performance - they were expecting me to solve more than one problem during those 45 minutes.
Both interview problems were something you can think of as medium to hard problem on LeetCode.
The second interview was weird, to say the least. In the beginning, the interviewer said we will not run the code, so I thought the best testing I can do is explaining how my algorithm would behave on each step depending on the input. I came up with a solution and a number of edge cases, which I went through verbally, explaining how my algorithm would work in those scenarios. Immediately after I was done interviewer asked me to go through the solution and explain how will it work. That felt confusing enough (I just did exactly that, which I mentioned) but I still went through it again. The feedback I've received later stated that I did not do any testing, which was ridiculous.
I communicated this to the recruiter and she said she will get a more senior member of the team feedback on my interview results. She kept promising coming back with the feedback in week / in two weeks over and over again. And this stretched for more than three months. Very unprofessional and badly organized process and ridiculously meaningless interview and feedback.
The process is straightforward and designed to help us get to know each other. It moves through a few stages at a comfortable pace, involves conversations with several team members, and focuses on making sure it's a good mutual fit.

Interview
Had an initial recuriter call and then scheduled a coding round with 2 leetcode questions. Practicing Meta-tagged leetcode questions would help prepare for this round. Interviewers expect clear communication and code.
Generic LeetCode-style questions, many tagged as Meta, so extensive preparation is required to perform well in the technical interview. The experience varies significantly - some interviewers provide hints and guidance, while others expect candidates to solve problems independently with minimal assistance.
