I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Meta (London, England)
Interview
Initial call with the recruiter to briefly talk about my experience and aspirations.
Followed up with a 1hr long virtual interview with an engineer. He introduced himself after which I spoke about my experience very briefly (5 minutes). We then spent 35 minutes coding with the rest of the time left for me to ask any questions.
Overall, I feel like this kind of interview format doesn’t really let more senior engineers promote themselves and show off their achievements.
Who cares if you delivered a system from scratch serving thousands of users on a daily basis or built a team up from nothing. They want to see if you can sort n characters in reverse using a linked list with an eye on recursion while someone stands over your shoulder.
For a graduate straight out of university who doesn’t have any commercial experience I think the process is fine. How else would you evaluate otherwise.
But when I asked about CI/CD and GitOps methodologies at Facebook (techniques a more senior engineer can appreciate) the interviewer had no/little idea. So I guess you tell me, who would you hire?
The process is straightforward and designed to help us get to know each other. It moves through a few stages at a comfortable pace, involves conversations with several team members, and focuses on making sure it's a good mutual fit.

Interview
Had an initial recuriter call and then scheduled a coding round with 2 leetcode questions. Practicing Meta-tagged leetcode questions would help prepare for this round. Interviewers expect clear communication and code.
Generic LeetCode-style questions, many tagged as Meta, so extensive preparation is required to perform well in the technical interview. The experience varies significantly - some interviewers provide hints and guidance, while others expect candidates to solve problems independently with minimal assistance.
