      Product Specialist Interview

      Sep 15, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Meta (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2021

      Interview

First round: screening with recruiter, make sure you're able to speak to why facebook, why this role, and also 1 or 2 behaviorals (i.e. tell me about a time when you had to solve a problem with little to no direction). Second round: 45 minute screening interview with PS consisting of 3-4 behaviorals, and then a small case (~20 minutes). It's not a PM case, so you don't really need to define a structure from scratch. They will most likely give you the specific questions you will need to answer. However, make sure you're able to break the problem apart into different areas that you can address! Round 3: onsite, this will consist of 2 behaviors and 1 technical component where they test your SQL knowledge (basic to intermediate), a small case, and 1-2 behaviorals. The focus of this round is on behaviorals, so make sure you're able to speak knowledgeable and coherently about your past experiences! The people at Facebook were extremely nice and helpful. Recruiter offered a prep call between each round, and the interviewer was also very nice, helpful, and patient. Got the feeling that people wanted me to succeed.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Case: Imagine you're a shoe retailer and reviews for your store have gone down for the quarter. How would you investigate why this was occurring? How would you address the problem? What metrics would you use to gauge whether or not your solution was successful? Behavioral: Tell me about a time when you worked closely with cross functional partners. What was your approach when you disagreed, and how did you influence decision making? Tell me about a time when you had to solve a problem with little to no directionality. How did you define the problem and your metrics?

      Interview

It’s like a stripped down version of a PM interview. Focus on prioritization questions and teamwork questions. Easy SQL question. “How would you design a queue system for a restaurant?”

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Meta (Mountain View, CA)

      Interview

Interview was okay in difficulty. The annoying thing was that everyone was reading a script word for word. Like literally you can see them read the script during the interview. The interviewers didn't have the ability to articulate their own thoughts, just stuck to the script. Sometimes my responses already addressed what their script's follow up question asked..and yet they asked it again and it made things really awkward. Avoided a bullet though as this company is now on its way to self-destruct.

      Question 1

SQL test, a lot of 'tell me about a time when' questions, and projects you've worked on
