Got a DM from a Meta recruiter on LinkedIn. Initial recruiter screen was the usual - walkthrough of my background, some basics around leadership experience, and alignment with the DS manager role. Pretty chill. Next was the hiring manager screen - focused on team leadership, project outcomes, and how I’d align with Meta’s culture and expectations. A lot of it was around impact, cross-functional collabs, and how I manage performance + feedback. Then came the technical round, which was less about writing code and more of a case-style problem. I was given a dataset and asked to define the right metric, write SQL for it, and analyze what the results meant. Definitely brush up on product sense, metric design, and tying insights back to product impact. Final was the onsite - 5 rounds. One technical (another case-style round with product data), rest were behavioral and leadership-focused. Got deep questions around team motivation, hiring top talent, resolving conflicts, and scaling DS orgs. There was a lot of emphasis on cross-functional influence and aligning DS goals with broader company strategy. Prepped through a mix of Reddit threads,Glassdoor, and did mocks on Prepfully with a Meta DS coach - that helped a ton in refining my product thinking and structure for the case rounds. Got the offer and accepted - team was great and aligned well with what I was looking for next.
