I submitted my application with Metra Chicago a month before I was called in for an interview with HR. The interview was conducted by the head of the department and office manager, featuring around 15 standard questions, followed by a typing test. The interview panel was composed entirely of Black women, and the candidates waiting for their turn were also Black women. Although I am also a women of color, I felt that they immediately felt disinterested. They asked their questions, every now and then the head of the department (lady with the eye that floats away) would sigh as if she was forced to conduct interviews that day. When asked why the position say vacant for 6 months and why they need to fill it now, they could not give me a straight answer. When asked about the position and the training guide, they did not have those answers or materials. In the end, I watched as they collected everyone’s typing scores except mine because they were focused on consoling the last candidate, who was "struggling" with the her typing test. She was an older black woman and I cannot help but to assume she got special treatment because of her skin color
