      Recruitment Consultant Interview

      Nov 26, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Singapore
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Michael Page (Singapore)

      Interview

Advice 1: Get a referral if you can. The company loves referrals and the chances of you getting an initial round of interview with a referral are far higher. Round 1: Quick phone interview with the Director of Page Personnel. Generic questions about your background, what have you done in the past. They key is to be confident, because all they are looking for at this point is a reason to justify giving you the time for a face to face interview. Round 2: Skype interview (Usually face to face interview but I was based overseas). More in depth questions about what have you done in the past, what are your motivations and what drives you. In addition to this, there would be questions about your understanding of the role of a recruitment consultant, the typical day, the challenges, how you'll deal with them etc. Very important to have a clear understanding of the role. Round 3: Assessment Center. Involves 3 role plays. One is where you are talking to a candidate, second where you are dealing with a client and the third could be either one of the two. The role play involves the role play itself, followed by your assessment of how it went and then feedback from the assessors. Very important to incorporate feedback you receive from one role play into the next one. The next step in the role play is an interview, which is an honest conversation to find out more about you as a person. Last for us was an exercise called the Hot Air Balloon exercise. In this there are 4 people in a hot air balloon (based on the number of candidates present during the assessment center) and everyone is given a significant enough character (e.g. Obama, UN Secretary General). Only one person can survive the objective is to convince the others that you should be the one to survive. Round 4: A presentation to the Regional Managing Director and a few other directors/ managers. The topic is given beforehand to you. Last round usually, pretty tough. Questions can really vary based on your presentation, but I think they really try to throw you off here. So keep calm and answer on.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If Manager X wasn't convinced that we should hire you, how would I go back and convince him that you are the right choice? (Final round question, so by now you have pretty much said all you have got.)

      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Michael Page (New York, NY) in Feb 2023

      Interview

I had a final round interview with a man named Sean Puddle. He told me I wasn't a good fit because I was from Long Island and likely had family money, so I wouldn't be hungry enough for this sales role. Sean is now at Robert Walters, and I'm sure he's been the same jerk there.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

No questions, just told I wasn't a good fit because I allegedly came from family money based off of where I was raised.
