Immediately after submitting the application, I was sent an email to complete an AI interview. There are a number of best practice issues with the use of AI interviewing:
1) The use of video interviewing before you have even had a screening is fraught with biases and discrimination.
2) Requiring a video interview before even having a personal conversation/screening with a recruiter to better understand the role, is very impersonal and reflects poorly on what working for the organization will be like.
3) This particular tool did not allow you to rerecord your answers. Not even once.
4) the questions asked were not well thought out and did not even match the requirements of the role.

Question 1
The role did not require past experience with AI, but asked questions about how I have used AI as part of customer service for a particular category. AI has only been minimally used in the particular sector.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Micro1 (Nairobi) in Dec 2025
Interview
AI interview consists of personalized questions as well as aptitude an practical questions.
Takes about thirty to forty five minutes to complete the entire session. My advice would be not to do too many within a short timeframe as they are quite consuming.

Interview
Fast and to the point it was surprisingly relaxing to talk to an AI and not get emotionally charged questions and easy to talk to, would like to know more about the company tho
I applied online. I interviewed at Micro1 in Sep 2025
Interview
SCAM ALERT: YOU'RE NOT APPLYING FOR A JOB, YOU'RE THE PRODUCT! They conveniently explain in another sub-webpage that "human data" is extracted from experts that is packaged and sold to other companies. Also, their general Privacy Notice doesn't explain all the data collection. You have to find their marketing materials to other companies where they brag about all the data they take from expert applicants.
**About the Interview:**
The interview was information scraping - your voice, your likeness, your screen, and your answers - to train their AI. 22.5 minutes was an AI interview on technical questions, then 20 minutes was given to complete "Human Data Exercises". Questions were extremely technical and domain specific. A high-score (~100%) is required to pass. Also, a background check is required.
**Passing the Interview:**
If you pass, your profile is put on their platform to *maybe* get follow-on interviews with other companies. The posted pay compensation ($100/hr, in my case) is not promised nor honored; it depends on if you get companies reaching out to hire you as a consultant - of which, micro1 takes a cut.
