I applied online. I interviewed at Micron Technology
Interview
Was randomly called with no warning or scheduled appointment. Was then asked about low level operating system questions as well and then asked trick questions about how languages like python and C++ are compiled. Though this was a "Software engineering position" the description was data science/ Machine Learning. The phone screener essentially asked me irrelevant questions to the position ( or what seemed irrelevant) and then said he was taken back that my background in ML and AI didn't translate to his knowledge of low level CS.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Describe to me the steps that C++ code takes to get to machine code.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Micron Technology (Boise, ID) in Apr 2026
Interview
The interview process consisted of an initial recruiter phone screen, followed by a virtual onsite interview.
The onsite included multiple rounds covering data structures and algorithms (LeetCode-style problems), behavioral questions, and some system or design-related discussions.
Overall, the process felt somewhat challenging in terms of coordination and communication. In particular, the recruiter interaction felt a bit rushed, which made it harder to fully present my background and ask clarifying questions. During the onsite, the interview styles varied across rounds, which made the experience feel less consistent.
They asked first introduction then talked about my past experience and day to day life at my past company and then technical questions on DSA mostly lists graphs trees system architecture
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked for system design, DSA on Trees and Garphs
Good process, 2 dsa question and one aptitude and also the dsa question is easy to medium and the experience is good overall, will suggest to focus on DSA and system design
