      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Middesk in Jul 2021

      Interview

Extensive interview process - two hours of "chats" with the CEO, my referral, and a revenue lead to learn more about the company and get to know each other, then 4 hours of one on one interviews and one hour of a panel presentation - three of these sessions were were with people I had already talked to, which I did not think was a great use of time, but it's a small company and I genuinely enjoyed talking to everyone I met. Pros: As mentioned I really enjoyed all of the people I spoke to; would have been good colleagues and the company looks to be going places. Interview itself wasn't rocket science and mostly conversational with interesting and personable people who are willing to share and made a concerted effort to help me learn more about the company as a candidate. Cons: I got a soft offer for a lower level role than was posted or than I applied for and I would have preferred a rejection outright. Personally I don't think a soft offer down is a good move for a business - all sorts of potential issues there. Interview process is definitely a work in progress; your panel presentation is make or break, and the prompts aren't very specific, so come prepared to be flexible!
