I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Milliman (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2023
Interview
Messy interview process. I was first asked to complete a technical assessment that took 2-3 hours (excel and SAS code) after which the recruiter had some follow-up questions regarding my experience that I answered via email. After that, they scheduled a ~3 hours of onsite interview (5-6 rounds, 30 mins each, no breaks in between). Ironically, my interview was on Juneteenth and all my interviewers were white Americans so I definitely felt like diversity was not their strong suit. Then they low-balled me by offering me a Senior Data Analyst role because I didn't have enough 'claims data experience' (something they could have deduced from my resume rather than wasting hours of my time). Furthermore, it sounds like they don't really have a clear idea on what a Data Scientist is and how they would utilize one in their work so I am not sure why they would try hiring for a non-existent position and waste candidates' time like this.
Very inconsiderate of your time. Milliman assigned me a technical assessment and pre-interview video screener questions. I spent two hours between these two assignments. Milliman then informed me that I did not have enough healthcare claims experience and they would not be moving forward with me. This was not based on questions from the screener. This was based off of looking at my resume. They should have made this decision before wasting my time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Trivial SAS or SQL questions. Fix a sample excel workbook and display business acumen in the submission and cover note. Normal, boring interview questions (why are you a good fit? Talk about a time you disagreed with a coworker).
