Dragged on long, unprofessional. The company dangled a "pending offer" for over two weeks before announcing that they decided to go another direction with the position. I had anticipated that they had offered someone else a position, while waiting for that person to respond which took over a week, they tried to keep me engaged with false hope - "we loved you, we are discussing internally how to move forward, everyone thought you'd make a great addition to the team", etc. I appreciated what the company called "no nonsense" attitude during the interviews but I soon realized the team was not true to their word. Towards the end of the process and after spending over ten hours collectively in their offices interviewing, I began to lose interest in the position and management style of my would-be peers. I was promised a response by a certain date that was not met, but rather filled with excuses as to why it was delayed a week. I would appreciate honesty. I understand that management was moving forward in their best interest and keeping their options open but not a place that I would want to work. I was very disappointed in their internal recruiting department's lack of accountability during this time as well. Perhaps, I was not fit for the job, which is okay, but no need to keep me on the hook until sometime better comes along.
