1st interview was conducted by HR, about 30 mins where we went through basic qualifications for the role itself.
2nd Interview was suppose to be a verbal case study. There was no way to prepare for this and everything was verbal. The case itself was pretty basic, including a fictional case about a coffee shop in SF. I was told to write a bunch of numbers down and then calculate profit. I gave my answer and was told it was incorrect. Turned out, the fixed cost that was given was for one month, but all the other parameters was for 2 months.. therefore my result was not correct. Kind of setting someone up to fail right?
The second question was, how much less of the product (with a higher margin) needed to be sold in order to keep profits. I asked for clarification on this since I couldn't see how decreasing sales of a high margin product would make sense, which the interviewer agreed to. After a brief clarification I got the answer right. I was told I had great experience and seemed like the right fit for the company. Because I needed clarification on the second question and was mislead on the first, I was excluded from the interview process. I guess the lesson is, make sure your answers are 1000% correct..
