Ad hoc panel interview consisting of 5 individuals in addition to myself. The process was poorly implemented and interviewers were not well prepared. I was invited to interview at the company site, but was not greeted by anyone participating in the interview. I ended up needing to play detective to locate the interview room in which I ended up sitting by myself for nearly 30 minutes. The interview actually started late as the attendees trickled into the room. It seemed like almost everyone had better things to do. The interview consisted of numerous questions from the hiring manager, her supervisor, and her tech lead. Many of these questions lacked context and answers merely parroted general information available in the job spec and on the company website. I considered this interview to be adversarial in nature due to the tone of the interview. Rather than exploring those elements of my background which would make me a good fit the focus seemed instead to be on the out of context pop quiz type questions. After the interview I performed the standard and expected follow up to which I never received a response. To not get a response for a follow up to a brick & mortar interview is generally considered unprofessional, amateurish, and rude. But it shouldn't have surprised me - this sort of behavior seems common place for government jobs (I experienced similar bad conduct during Argonne and Fermi interviews).
