This is my second submission of my original post which changed my perception from a negative to a positive experience. Why? I had a conversation with the HR Head in the US after my first glassdoor review in where I pointed out an unprofessional approach from the Switzerland Recruitment team. After our talk, and I can truly say that Moderna is keen on providing a great candidate experience and cares about improving its internal processes. Moderna was interested to know what went wrong in the first place and why. From an organisational behaviour perspective, this is the recipe for building a high-performance culture that cares about the people. In this submission, I removed comments I had about the Recruitment team in Switzerland and focus sorely on the interview talks and the HR team in the US.
I applied online and received an invite after three weeks which contained slots with all interview parties within 2 days.
The structure was as follow:
1. Interview Hiring Manager Switzerland
2. Recruiter Switzerland
3. Director stakeholder in the US
4. Director stakeholder in Switzerland
The interview was well structured and explained the scope of the role well. As Moderna is kind of a start-up in pharma it certainly reflects the interview environment which is modern(a) and more informal than case studies or other stress interview types. For individuals who do not like interviews a really comfortable approach. Overall, I liked the interview talks with the three Managers who explained the role and how it fit in their organizational needs. Unfortunately, it took the team about 1 1/2months for a final decision which ended in a rejection.
However, it often takes not much to create a pleasant atmosphere in where applicants leave a company with the feeling " I want to work there and it was a great experience. Regardless of the outcome".
Moderna 's HR US team did a really good approach and offered a feedback call in which both parties reflect on the interview for a better understanding of where both can improve. It speaks for itself when a company show such a high degree of engagement with candidates.
Based on my experience I recommend Moderna as a potential employer and I would apply there again if an opportunity arise.
