Had a few calls with recruiter and hiring manager before being invited to interview at their headquarters. Two of the people I was to interview with that day cancelled late so I ended up only meeting with HR and the hiring manager. Two days after the in-person interview I was asked to speak with one more person, which I did just a few days later. Since then multiple follow-ups by me via phone and email have gone unanswered. In other words I went from thinking that I might get an offer to being completely ghosted by the company. No, "we hired a different candidate." No, "we've chosen not to fill the position." No anything -- just complete silence and no response to multiple outreach by me. In addition, I had to pay for air and ground transportation expenses myself and then submit an expense report, which then took weeks and a few follow-up emails to get reimbursed.
Yes, ideally I would have received some input as to why I did not get an offer but going completely dark on a candidate so deep into the hiring process is simply inexcusable and unacceptable. Maybe my negative experience was simply the result of a hiring manager with bad manners. Regardless, it reflects on the entire company.
