      Compensation Data Analyst Interview

      Aug 9, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at MongoDB (Barcelona) in Jul 2023

      Interview

A recruiting Lead sending an invitation link to fill in my availability for a phone call. After having specified I'd be available in different slots every day except wednesday, he booked the interview exactly wednesday. Warned him and he asked me again what my availability was. We managed to book a phone call Friday, 3pm, to which...... the recruiting Lead did not show up. Next week sent me the exact same link as if nothing happened. Asked him about life at MongoDB and apparently he had been promoted twice in a short timespan. Following was interview with the manager. Went really well, provided solid insights on the company and a reassuring image on the team spirit, not so much on work life balance. 3rd step was an excel test, that I had to remind the original Recruiting Lead to send me. Initially he sent me an email at 7pm asking whether I had the chance to complete it that evening. I saw the email at 11pm, when I replied, not expecting an answer, but he replied at 11pm (not a WLBalance-friendly picture here). Following were 3 interviews: a colleague from another team, an HRBP and the Comp Director. Throughout the interviews I made sure to ask about WLB and more than becoming evident there is none in this company, on one of the interviews this was confirmed by them (yes, that WLB is not a real thing here). By this moment, 3 different people in the recruiting team seem to be managing my process. A mess. Asked for further feedback as it felt bittersweet putting so much time and effort into the process and ending up receiving a system automatic decline message. Got none. Bad experience overall, no worklife balance, no feedback, bad recruitment process management, but good team spirit and manager in the compensatio team.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about your experience in this role? Why are you looking for something new? What tools do you work with? What part of compensation excites you the most? Do you like the technical part of it? (following a context where I said I was taking a Python course) What are you looking for in this role?
