I applied on the company's career page and a recruiter reached out to me a week later. There was no transparency about the number and type of interviews but I appreciate how quickly the interviews were scheduled. I met with the hiring manager for a 30 minute chat (lasted 55mins and was behavioral) and a data analyst (technical interview lasted 30 mins). Both went great and I received positive upfront feedback. A week later, I was informed of four additional interviews. I wasn't happy about this because I would have appreciated a heads up from the beginning. Nonetheless, I stayed flexible and asked that the four interviews be scheduled on the same day if possible. With 30mins to 1 hour intervals, I met with four friendly and passionate team members. Again, they gave me positive upfront feedback. The recruiter reached out and I asked when I would get feedback, she responded that it should be 1 week max as they were going on a company retreat. I wished them a great time and wait a week. 2-3 weeks and multiple follow-up emails and calls (from and to the recruiter) later, I was sent a generic rejection email out of nowhere. The total interview process was 7 weeks. I turned down an offer in the final 2 weeks, while waiting to hear back from the hiring manager (I informed them about the other offer). I really liked the team and had received nothing but welcoming feedback from everyone including the hiring manager, who claimed he enjoyed our conversation so much that he wanted me to speak to other team members - which led to having four back to back interviews. Don't be like me. If something doesn't seem right to you about the clarity or length of the process, be vocal about it and work out something that suits you. With the exception of consulting I've only had to interview twice max for a role and they have been exceptional teams where I have always given amazing value.
