I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at M·A·C Cosmetics (Salt Lake City, UT) in Apr 2012
Interview
I applied through Nordstrom to work at the MAC Cosmetics counter as a part-time artist. I had a brief phone interview with the Nordstrom HR department, then an in person interview with the Cosmetics Department Manager, then with the MAC Cosmetics Counter Manager. Once I got past interviewing with the counter manager(on my second time applying), I interviewed with the Counter Manager and the MAC Resident Trainer for that region. Then I was responsible for bringing in a guest to do a full makeup demonstration on. They really focus on your technique, product knowledge, body language, verbal language, just about anything they can critique, they will. Then, I received feedback on my makeup demo. After this, I had a phone interview with the MAC Senior Retail Manager(they're typically phone interviews unless the SRM happens to be in your area). The interview process can take over one month! It's not necessarily difficult though. I recommend doing some research on the philosophy and history of the brand, you will get major brownie points for talking about Viva Glam, Back 2 MAC.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at M·A·C Cosmetics (Brea, CA) in May 2015
