I applied online. I interviewed at NIC (Denver, CO) in Oct 2022
Interview
Interview was a Denver director who canceled the first phone interview and pushed it back. That's OK, meetings happen and I'm flexible. Interviewers style was to just go through a list of questions and gain little understanding of the interviewee (me) and their actual strengths. Subsequent e-mail follow ups on my part were ignored until a month and a half later. Very unprofessional. If you're not interested in a candidate, just say so. If it's still undecided, have the decency to respond with a 10 second email.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at NIC (Topeka, KS)
Interview
There were three on-site interviews with different groups or people. One was with the team, one with my supervisor, and one with upper management. They were very friendly in each situation. The process was intentionally slow to allow maximum vetting and consideration. It has the potential to dissuade some, but it also seems to reduce picking up someone that might be a bad fit.
