I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NRG Energy in Jun 2024
Interview
I got the opportunity to interview with nrg through a recruiter. This was a contract to hire role but the first red flag was that the hiring manager had advertised the role as a full time on his profile. Initial phone screen with the hiring manager was set up and it involved him talking for majority of the time leaving little to no time for me to ask questions. Next step was a very easy take home test. Next were 5 interviews lasting 4 hours. First one was with a non technical person who asked very weird behavioral questions that bordered on bullying. The next was with the hiring manager who again spoke for 99% of the duration. The next two were with data scientists who looked uninspired and disinterested. The last was a coding round where the expectation was that you know the scoring rules of bowling. Interviewer never showed himself on camera. 3 days later I got notified that I was not selected as the team felt I was not interested and going through the motions of the process! Talk about gaslighting. You low-ball because a person who lost his job is looking for a role and blame him for your inabilities to treat people fairly.
