      Mechanical Engineer Interview

      Jul 22, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Ypsilanti, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NSF (Ypsilanti, MI) in Jun 2020

      Interview

1 phone call with HR going over general background/resume followed by 2 or 3 phone calls from manager and upper team members followed by an in-person interview with manager and team leads. Throughout phone interviews, there was a trend of questions which were “you sure you want to do this kind of work?” as if they were warning me of how miserable i would be working there. They liked me a lot and wanted to bring me in for an in-person interview. Showed up for the in-person interview only to be offered a lower position which “better suited” my background leaving me very insulted. I left that final in-person interview hoping they wouldn’t extend an offer which they never did. A bit unprofessional and frustrating method of trying to lure people in.
