I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at NVR (Richmond, VA) in Jul 2023
Interview
My interview was scheduled two weeks out from my screening call which was extremely wierd. It was a behavioral based interview, so I was expecting more pointed questions and was prepared to answer those in a specific way (using the STAR method). I didn't get asked those types of questions at all. My interview was basically just ~1.5 hours of the three interviewers basically ripping through my resume and interrogating me over the stuff I listed on there like I had lied about it or something. It was almost like they didn't want to be there, and were just trying to make my time there as hard as possible. This was all for a loan processing job that would've paid between 55k-65k, with no per file or other performance based bonuses offered, which made this whole thing even more ridiculous. I didn't feel like I had an opportunity to interview the company because I was being grilled so hard. The little information I did get out of my interviewers did raise sone major red flags about the company. This job would have been hybrid, but the only day you could work from home would have been Wednesday, which was probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. What's the point of having the option to work from home if you can only do it one day in the middle of the week? They sent me the rejection letter less than 24 hours after my interview concluded, and also didn't provide any constructive feedback (even when pressed), which I found to be extremely unprofessional. If you're going to make a decision on candidacy that quickly, you should be able to provide specific feedback on why you made that decision. A lack of such feedback makes me think that the interviewers made a decision based off of entirely subjective factors, which is the opposite of how this interview process was portrayed. If the mortgage business wasn't in shambles right now and more companies were hiring I would have most likely declined to interview once I was informed of the length. It a better economy, if I went through with the interview, I would have likely declined the job if offered too. Too many red flags.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at NVR (Frederick, MD) in Dec 2017
Interview
A recruiter from Ultimate Staffing reached out to me about a Loan Processor role in Frederick. Once I realized it was for a Fortune 500 company, I was ecstatic. A phone interview followed by a quiz called the PSP. Took the assessment and never heard back. I called the recruiter and he was very rude and informed me to stop calling.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at NVR in Aug 2016
Interview
I applied for a position outside of the state which I reside. I was contacted by a recruiter to do a phone interview, which was very easy. They asked me to fly down to interview in person with 3 managers. They were all very friendly, and asked straight forward questions. In the end I was told that they were looking for someone with more experience with mortgage loans and underwriting (even though this was not stated earlier in the process)
