I applied for a student level internship at NI and was initially excited by the company's mission of innovation in music tech and massive name power. The early stages of the process were seamless. 3 rounds of interviews, and 1 test task to write a press release for a fictional product. However, I was disappointed with how it concluded. Some of the interviews were abruptly cancelled (sometimes within the hour) and it pushed back the process by 3-4 weeks, only for me to hear back within 2 weeks of when I was projected to start. I was rejected shortly after missing the final interview due to a health issue. I did not sign an NDA or any contract before submitting the test task, which made me worry about their use of my IP without credit/compensation. The rejection cited a lack of "PR and Brand Experience" (surprising, given the role was described as student level with no prior experience required). I wish the process was considerate of applicant circumstances and reflected the advertised expectations. Transparency around how the test tasks are used would have gone a long way.
