      Marketing Associate Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Neudesic (Irvine, CA) in Jan 2014

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter, who spent two days questioning me to make sure my background was a match. After she was satisfied that it was, she contacted Neudesic and set up an interview. The recruiter, Neudesic and I all agreed to the meeting, money and job responsibilities before the meeting. I was interviewed by a marketing manager who had only been hired less than 6 months ago himself. After speaking to him for nearly an hour, he asked if I had time to meet 2 other people. One of them was leaving for another job but, this particular manager wanted his input for his own replacement. I spoke to this guy for another 30 minutes. Finally, they brought in a 3rd guy, who apparently carries a lot of weight. I was told, if this guy signs off on you then you are in. All 3 guys were emphatic that they kept hiring people who said they could do the job but really couldn't. They wanted to make sure that I could do everything my resume said, I could. I gave them real examples of how I solved similar problems and suggested tools that could help. (They all told me, they'd never even heard of such software). I left after 2.5 hours with a positive feeling about the position. The recruiter contacted me two days later, to tell me that they thought I was great but, felt they could not afford me!?.. I reminded her that we'd already discussed money and everyone agreed to the same salary. The recruiter said that Neudesic decided to change the job responsibilities and look for "lower level" candidates and slash the hourly salary in half! After spending two and a half hours complaining about lower level candidates, they finally meet someone who can do what they asked...and decided that they can't pay them?? It was a waste of my time and gas. The recruiter should have vetted Neudesic better and Neudesic should have better assessed their needs before giving everyone involved the total runaround. If you know nothing about marketing, I highly encourage you to apply, you are exactly what they are looking for.
