The interview process was very abrupt, informal, and just all around stressful. I prepared for an interview that would showcase my skills and knowledge and prepared both by using the job role and my current resume. I did not apply, but rather was sourced by a recruiter which made the experience even weirder. The interviewer instructed me to turn my camera off within the first 2 minutes and never had his on. In a remote world it’s important for candidates to feel understood and cameras off does not promote a safe and inviting organization. All of his questions were asking me to rate myself and skills on a scale of 1-10 with no explanation as to why or little effort to hear my explanation. I’m very used to an interview where they attempt to learn about the candidate and see how they fit with the organization. I don’t see how he could have learned anything from me in 15 minutes when the interview was scheduled for 45 minutes. It just seemed like he didn’t want to do it, and didn’t care about the outcome. That isn’t fair to any candidate, recruited or applied. Neudesic needs to do better with their technical interviewers or you’ll miss amazing talent.
