I applied at New Home Star in April 2019. I was initially contacted by a recruiter for a phone screen. It was the standard phone screen - tell me about yourself, tell me why you are interested in this role, etc. At the end of the phone screen the recruiter asked if I could meet with two team members at the corporate office the same week. I meet with the hiring manager and colleague that also reports directly to the hiring manager. Both people were great. They told me more about the company and the role, asked me questions about my experience, and gave me a tour of the office. The Manager did awkwardly ask me my salary requirements in front of the other person, which I felt was not okay and should have been done in private. The Manger told me that there are three stages to interviews at the corporate office - the initially phone screen, interview with the hiring manager, and then a final interview. He also explained that there was a grammar and spelling test I would have to pass. I took the test at the office. And was told they would follow-up with next steps. I sent a standard thank you to each person after the interview and got responses that they would be in touch soon. That was two weeks ago and I have heard nothing. I also reached out to the recruiter and heard nothing back. I just feel that it was a very unprofessional way to handle an interview. After putting time and effort in and being ghosted by a company is not a good feeling.
