I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New Relic (Portland, OR) in Jul 2016
Interview
I applied online (found on LinkedIn) and I received a response within a week. Like the other reviews advised; I was first asked to complete a Heroku challenge. The challenge entailed implementing the New Relic add-on to a deployed Heroku web app and simulating a tech support conversation with a customer having issues.
I was then offered an hour-long phone interview with the department's manager. We went over my resume, general questions about my background, and any relevant previous support experience. This conversation was super friendly and my interviewer made me feel very comfortable.
Then we scheduled an hour-long phone tech screen with a Technical Support Engineer. The questions were mostly how I would handle basic troubleshooting in Java. The engineer was really nice and took time to explain and help me through the questions. I only regret not taking more time to really dig through and study all of the New Relic software to have a thorough understanding of exactly what each product does.
Unfortunately, I wasn't asked to move on to the in office interviews, but again the manager was really quick to let me know and super nice. This was an awesome interview experience, which seems to be a good reflection of the company.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at New Relic (Bengaluru) in Dec 2024

Question 1
How to Handle a difficult customer?
How to handle a situation where you are not unaware of the solution
Started with screening call. Then interviews with hiring managers. Fair, asked good questions. Good people. I thought they were thorough but not overly aggressive. All well done by their team overall.
