Had a quick call with a recruiter going over basics of my experience, what I was looking for, and salary requirements. Was emailed about a week later to schedule an in-person interview with the Design Manager.
The interview was rather casual, where I presented my portfolio and she would ask related questions throughout. At the end there was plenty of time to ask questions. It did seem as though she didn't really look through my web portfolio much before hand, just a quick skim. So you kind of have to start from ground zero, which is fine, but I didn't feel I had time to touch on everything I'd hoped. Overall it was a nice experience though, she was very friendly.
About a week later I got another email to schedule a video interview with the Product Design Director. He actually ended up being in the Portland office that day, so it got turned into an in-person interview last minute. This interview was also pretty casual, but did not involve showing my portfolio. It was mostly questions related to my interests, background, goals, etc. No generic or gotcha interview questions, just a nice conversation. You could tell he was just trying to see if I was a good fit for the team.
At the end he said he would send me a small design project so he could get a feel for how I work / my abilities. He made it seem like this is not always the case though. I happen to be trying to transition into UX design, so my past experience is not exactly related.
Anyways, haven't heard anything since then. It's been 3 weeks so I can only assume its not happening. Overall the interviews were really pleasant, but I definitely would have appreciated being told they weren't interested rather than just leaving me hanging.
