I applied online. I interviewed at New Relic in Mar 2021
Interview
This was a very slow interview, spanning 4 sessions in a nine week timeframe. Things didn't start on a good note when I had an initial interview scheduled with the recruiter who asked me to reschedule, and the next available appointment was 10 days out. There were long pauses between steps in the interview with no communication and the platform they use provides no way for a candidate to reach out with questions or comments. The technical aspects of the interview included an hour long session with a lead architect, a take home component focused on presenting an architecture in written form. During the final face to face interview the chief architect had some questions about the content but no one else during the interview did.

Interview
Had good coding conversation, thought process was clearly articulated and penned down clearly. In this age, if someone is still looking for syntax, symantics, it shows lack of technology adoption in the mindset and is stuck in oldschool. It didn't move forward, but sure there are no red flags. Not sure why there is rejection, interviewer doesn't seem to have any clue why he rejected. I had been interviewer, and I know how it bites back (be careful interviewers, look for clarity in thinking, avoid mindset not needed in this advanced tech era, If I remember too much syntax and symantics , I can jump boats continuosly, wont be loyal anywhere. )

I dont understand why some companies/ panels still rely so much on old school methods of interviewing where a problem from leetcode has to match their known solution otherwise you are rejected. It seems cramming has become the norm now and mediocrity is appreciated
