I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at New Relic (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2015
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter after applying online. It was a strange 10 mins call with no real questions (red flag #1!). I thought that was odd but went through the whole face to face interview with 4 Sr. members (VP, 2 directors and the hiring manager) of the team. The VP even asked how much time I"ll need before I can start there. So, I thought this was a good sign.I did however noticed that the hiring manager did not glanced at my resume once and just asked me basic questions (2nd red flag). 48 hours later, I get an automated email stating they went with another candidate. I am sure they already *unofficially* hired someone due to the lack of interest & questions from the recruiter and the hiring manager. The VP and 2 other directors were genuinely interviewing me with interest. A waste of time on my end -$40 for parking fee and 2 hours in traffic!
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at New Relic in Sep 2023
Interview
The recruiter reached out, to book the interview. They took the majority of the time to speak about the state of the company during the first call and requested a second call to run the interview at which time I was told I was being moved forward. I was told I would hear from the hiring manager in just shy of a week. I did not hear back from either. After two emails with thanks and requesting an update, I never heard back from them.
I applied online. I interviewed at New Relic in Mar 2016
Interview
I spoke with a recruiter on the phone and then I had another call with someone in Operations. That went well and they scheduled 3 hours of phone calls with 4 different people. It was supposed to be a video conference but only one person used the link. After the phone interviews i followed up with thank you notes and the recruiter never got back to me after saying she would let me know about next steps....I find this hugely unprofessional after spending so much time interviewing.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New Relic (Boston, MA) in Jan 2016
Interview
The New Relic interview process for this role can be long and drawn out. After reading through some of these reviews, I am finding that New Relic can be disrespectful towards applicants who are not chosen to move forward in the process. I agree for the most part, but as a rule of thumb to any jobseeker, I would say if you don't hear back within 24 hours, you should just move on. That being said, the one thing that I found extremely annoying with my experience is that the Recruiting team asked for my availability after interviewing with the team, to which I provided. The unprofessional aspect is that they never got back to me. I followed up a couple of times only to receive an automated ( rejection ) response 3 weeks later. It was obvious to me that I wasn't moving forward after the non response, but just flat out rude. What is funny is that the email stated that New Relic is not in the practice of providing "feedback," which I didn't even ask for. Well, New Relic, here's MY feedback - your interview process sucks! Perhaps some really great candidates reading this will get turned off and take their talents to Data Dog or somewhere else.
