I was coming from another financial services company. Referred by a friend the interview process was more of a wooing and a wine and dine than me trying to kick in the door. I was vetted for compliance, asked about client situations and complaint situations. New York Life is big on teaming agent together (in some General Offices this is used as a way for experienced agents to feed off of newer ones versus a pure mentoring process). I was asked about my abilities to manage a business and resources.

Extensive vetting. Requires you to become licensed for life insurance, after which point you'd have follow up interviews before ultimately moving forward. You need recommendations, and you'll have to conduct some introductory surveys with people who are supportive of you, and these surveys will actually benefit you down the road as you start your career.
