In terms of the interview process, it was about 2-3 weeks long. The first step was an interview with HR which went fairly well. The next step was with the hiring manager who had only been with the company for 2 weeks at the top. And then I had a panel interview in which I had to present a case study. I spend 5 days on putting together my presentation as the ask was to put together a marketing plan with a specified budget. Obviously there are a million assumptions one has to make given the vagueness of the exercise. I bring a lot of experience to the table in terms of development brand and marketing strategies for global brands within the restaurant space and thus put a ton of work into my presentation. After all of that work, I received the “ we have decided to go with another candidate response.” In essence they have you do all of this work, take your ideas and either go with someone else or move on to another candidate. It’s quite frustrating knowing you can do this job in your sleep and they make you go through leeps and bounds for nothing. At the end of the day, I am not sure if the hiring manager new what they wanted or needed for this role as they have no experience in the restaurant space and marking restaurant brands.
