I started off with a phone interview. The initial interviewer gave me the most difficult interview of my life! He was courteous, well spoken and seemd like a decent guy. But he will start out with a simple question then dig deeper and then dig deeper and the dig even more deep. If you don't have your act together you won't make it through the interview.
Luckily, I made it past the first phone interview. In my opinion the company believes in this guys interviewing skills so muc,h I bypassed the phone interview with the hiring manager and went straight in for the face to face interviews. I met with the typical people, the hiring manager, his boss, other people I might be working with. The interviews were pretty straight forward and overall pretty easy.
Then I went to lunch with the above mentioned interviewer. Again, he was a decent guy, well, spoken and easy to get along with. But this guy has the eye of God. He can see through your soul! The lunch interview started off well but then he asked me a question that I wasn't prepared for (I should have been prepared but wasn't) and he had me. He started digging deeper and deeper and I knew that I didn't get the job.
I have no ill will against this guy, in fact he'd be a great guy to go have a beer with. But I want the reviewers of this post to know if you are going to interview with this guy (I can't mention his name but you will definitely know you are interviewing with him) be prepared. Prepare and then prepare some more because he is the best interviewer I have ever interviewed with. Hats off to him because he has a gift.
