      Senior Executive Interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nielsen (Bengaluru) in Dec 2017

      Interview

There were totally 4 rounds of interview including the HR round. 1st round was an introductory grilling round with puzzles whether we suit there or not. The second and third round was fairly technical. The technical panel consisted of senior managers who were PhD holders in Mathematics and Machine Learning. The interview went smooth and fine, and the people in the tech panels were really nice. I was fully grilled on the projects done in my current organization and the concepts what i claimed to know in my resume was tested deeply. Apart from that a couple of simple(Not too simple) math puzzles which can be coded is asked. The final round was the HR round which was more of a formality and negotiation round. Overall, it was a very good experience for me, and also the interviewers were really quick in giving the feedback. They even told me in what areas i need to improve. They were really honest as well.

      Interview questions [4]

      Question 1

1st round: - couple of aptitude puzzles such as finding a formulae to find angles between minute hand and the hour hand in the clock, applicational questions on that. -Generic questions such as finding the odd ball out from a given set of 9 balls using fair scale. Finding the weights and stuff. -Questions on shapes like circle, cones, and cuboids etc. Like why a manhole is circular in shape and silly questions like that.

      Question 2

2nd round: This round was more into project and its related questions. know very well how the project works properly. End to end architecture was being asked. Asked me to build an architecture for a hypothetical project and how it works. Simple questions on python, pandas, nltk, numpy etc were being asked. They checked the basic concepts very very well here, and wanted to make sure that the person knows what he is doing. They expected me to know a little bit of angular JS, which i managed to tell something.

      Question 3

3rd round: -Fully basic level algorithms such as Regressions,Classifications(full),Clustering,Reinforcement learning, and a bit of ANN/CNN . End to end intuition was being checked here with cross questions and couple of mathematical equations. -Questions on statistical concepts, from very basic and easy ones to the unknown level: started with mean median mode to T-tests and degrees of freedom. A bit of variance,Standard deviation, random sampling distribution,z-score,Null value hypothesis, statistical significance were asked in basic, as i told I am not from stats background. - Also a bit of standard ML questions such as Bias-Variance Tradeoffs,False positives-negatives, ROC curve, AUROC,etc. -Full grilling in neural networks , more in CNN, to explain the stages in CNN. All the activation functions, and its differences and as to where and in what situations are they to be used. Full deep conceptual questions on gradient descent, stochastic GD,backpropogation algorithm, epochs, training a neural network, etc. -I cant remember all the questions here as each round lasted more than 90 minutes.

      Question 4

-Simple questions/code snippets on to select the highest value using only arithmetical operators, without using any conditional operators or any if/else/switch etc. -Questions on Travelling salesman problem and similar greedy optimisation techniques. -Simple Data structures questions of linked lists and trees. - Code snippet questions mainly picked from geeksforgeeks :D

      Interview

The interviewer was not friendly at all and the way she asked questions made no room for an open way of conversation. She dont even know what to ask and kept saying , ‘ Anything you want to ask?’ , as if I am the one interviewing her. What a red flag. The interview ended in 15mins.
