      Health Coach Interview

      Mar 22, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Noom in Mar 2019

      Interview

The entire process took about 6 weeks from first hearing back about being invited to interview and getting the rejection email. You upload a 1 minute video, answer some timed questions, then eventually get contacted for a mock coaching session (This was the start of the 6 week waiting). All of the emails about scheduling an interview said to schedule the next available interview that was open, due to spots being limited - so I ended up taking time off of work to interview. I had read the Glassdoor reviews and knew what kind of client to expect - “Sam” was definitely not easy as a client, but use motivational interviewing skills and lots of patience to meet her where she’s at and you’ll be ok. I was immediately (within an hour) asked to schedule a final interview which I did the next day. That seemed like a good sign. This one was with a different person than who did my first interview and felt like a test after the initial getting to know each other. We had a great conversation, chatted about health coaching and IIN and Noom, then I was asked a couple of coaching questions. After answering one (below) and giving multiple options, the interviewer abruptly said that she didn’t have any more questions. I’m not sure what they are expecting at $18/hour. It felt like I answered wrong and they had a checklist or something. I asked about benefits and the interviewer said that they were “alright.” The frustrating part was neither interviewer could really answer my questions about the company - neither knew when positions would be open or could tell me when I’d expect to hear back. It seems like they throw health coaches into interviewing and don’t prepare them with info (or they don’t care enough to prepare). Also, after such a long process the rejection letter said “they don’t have time to provide feedback.” I found that extremely impersonal. The interview process is very exam-like. I was disappointed at the urgency they required of me for scheduling things, the time it took to get through the process, and the way the rejection email totally discounted any feedback possibilities.

POOR. Sucked. The interviewer seemed very young and ageist. It seems like this girl would have rather been looking at her phone and responding to texts than interviewing someone for a job position—worst experience ever!!
