      Interview

Online app. Timed scenarios + min video of why you. Mock interview - that's where it’s ridiculous. COPIED MY MOCK TO SERVE AS A WARNING. Modified bc of word count limit. Highlights: “Sam” is 45yo mom of 2 who wants to lose 50#. Long commute, desk job, lunch in their cafeteria. No time for much besides commute, work, pick up and drop off kids, and take-out dinner. Coach: You mentioned pounds; what are your other goals? Sam: Honestly, it’s just to lose these 50 pounds - plain and simple.  Coach: What do you think is the hardest struggle? Sam: I just can’t find the time to make changes.  Coach: Do you think it’s less about time and more about you being in a routine and need help? Sam: Nope. It’s definitely the time.  Coach: How do you feel about what you’ve accomplished so far? Sam: I don’t really think I’ve accomplished anything. The scale won’t budge. I haven’t even lost an ounce and I’m beginning to feel like a failure.  Coach: You’re not! You didn’t gain 50# overnight, so you won’t lose them that fast, either! Consistent changes for healthier eating will help you in the long journey.  Sam: But I NEED to lose this weight fast Coach! My husband booked a beach vacation for our anniversary and I don’t want anybody to look at my body! I’ll look like a beached whale if I don’t get this weight off!  Coach: When’s vacation?  Sam: Well, that’s easy for you to say! You’re not going to be the one looking like a beached whale 😱 vacation is in 2 months. Coach: 50# is tough for that, but I promise if we work together and you stay on track you’ll be on the right path to make that goal! So your diary - is this entry your typical day or does it vary? Sam: pretty typical. My job forces me to have to eat out because I’m SO busy – ya know?  Coach: I understand. You’re right in line with your yellow, so high five! Let’s work together for more greens and less red. Have you read any literature Noom sends about what colors are and how to work those into your day? Sam: Honestly, not really. I kind of feel like they’re a waste of time. It’s pretty much things that I already know.  Coach: Ok for breakfast - How do you think we could make that less red and more green? Sam: I’m not ready to change my breakfast. I NEED my latte coach! It keeps me going for the day! Coach: Latte is fine. I need caffeine to start my day, too! What are some better choices instead of a muffin? Sam: So, I thought I was onto something when swapping out my usual muffin for a multigrain muffin. But, I was taken aback when I logged it and see how many calories it cost me and that it's yet another red food!  Coach: Yeah, muffins are tricky. So if it’s the flavor profile of a muffin you like, what do you think you could eat instead to get those same flavors but not the red? Sam: Well, one thought is to swap that muffin out for a whole wheat bagel. I've seen those at Starbucks and those are actually green in the app! My concern with that is that I don't love that wheaty flavor and worry that I will load it with jam or butter to drown out that taste. Seems like that might defeat the purpose. Coach: Well that’s a great start! As long as you try to stick to a serving of jam or butter and don’t overindulge, that would be a better swap.  Sam: The problem is that I CAN’T stick to it!  Coach: What other options are there that would make a better choice? You said Starbucks - they have parfaits with fruit and granola. just try to take notice of ways you could make a red choice more of a green. Sam: I kinda thought that if I could find a way to incorporate more exercise, than I wouldn’t have to make any changes to my diet. Coach: Exercise is great but the hard part is nutrition! Could you print out the green/yellow/red food list and keep it in your purse? That way, you’ll always have it around to reference. Sam: I don’t have any ink in my printer right now.  Coach: Save it to your phone. You mentioned you have a cafeteria for lunch - sounds like there’s opportunities there for green! How do you think you could incorporate there? Sam: My cafeteria is mostly hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, fried chicken. I’m not sure any of those are green.  Coach: There’s no salad or fruit options? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a place without healthier options at this day and age; even the fast food places have healthier options! Sam: Nope, not at this cafeteria. They probably have better food at a prison! Coach: You work in the city, correct?
