This was a strange ordeal. You have to use a Google Doc to communicate with the faux client, “Sam”; a 45 year old woman who wants to lose 50 lbs but has zero desire to change one single thing about her behavior. You spend an hour chatting with her, asking her questions, building a rapport with her, yadda yadda. It’s a long hour. She flat out refuses to give up her morning venti lattes and muffin combo, will not work out at all (even to take a ten minute walk), and is absurdly obstinate to deal with. She shoots down every suggestion you make. It’s not really productive at all. Frankly, I don’t know what Noom is looking for in a coach. I was friendly, used emoticons to soften dialogue, was patient, etc. I understand this is about sales ultimately and they don’t care if people lose weight or not as long as they keep paying, and that is fine! I get that. I’m really not upset that I didn’t get an offer, just baffled in terms of what they actually want from a coach. I question their hiring methods a bit; if they’d just be honest on what they need from their coaches then applicants would have a much better chance to hone their skills appropriately.
