I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Glendale, CA) in May 2016
Interview
1. Applied online
2. Got an e-mail to set up a phone interview
3. Had a phone interview/was invited to do an in-person interview
4. Went to the interview at the branch I applied to
When I got to their store I saw about 13 people come in and we were seated near their service bar to wait for a manager to take us into the employee lounge. They took us to the lounge while the manager did a roll call. She explained to us to expect to be there for about 2 hours as we were called one by one to be interviewed by the department manager for the department we applied to.
Luckily, I was one of the first to be called so I went in and sat with the department manager and did a one-on-one interview. The interview questions were pretty basic (customer service, experience, why Nordstrom, etc.) and in the end I was asked to sell a product she had brought from her department. It took about 30-40 min including the waiting time since I got there early. About a week later I received a call from the department manager (Topshop/BP) I interviewed with and was told that I wouldn't get enough hours working in her department so she recommended me to another department (POV/TBD/Dresses). She scheduled an interview for me to meet with the department manager for Women's Core and a few days later I met up with her and basically went through the same process minus the longer wait. I was also the only one being interviewed this second time around. About a day later I called to follow up and was given the job! Overall, the experience has been lengthier than expected but I honestly didn't mind.
