      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Oak Brook Mall Branch, IL) in Oct 2011

      Interview

Our Norstrom store had 1 job open for the web team! U pick out items from our store that customers order from our catalog and the Internet . The Web team is giving so many items to find in an hourly fashion . Then they ring it up as a sale ! I would have gotten my hourly rate @ $10.85 an hour. W no commission ! The manager told me she would get back to me in 4 to 5 days because she had 30 people applying for the job! I didn't get it .

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Nordstrom (King of Prussia, PA)

      Interview

Half hour interview, standard questions. Small interview room. Very professional. They were clearly reading from a list of standard questions which made me think that all the interview questions were the same. Asked about work history. I may have over prepared for the interview. They were robotic in asking the questions. just seemed to write down the answers and not really listen to them.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How I deal with customers. If I work well in a team. How I handle mistakes.

      Web Team Interview

      Jul 30, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Bloomington, MN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Bloomington, MN) in Jun 2013

      Interview

I was home for the summer and having a hard time finding a seasonal job, so I applied at Nordstrom when I saw they had seasonal positions open. In a few days I got an email offering me a phone interview, which looks like the standard for Nordstrom. My cell phone was the number I had listed, and for one reason or another the call didn't go through the first time; I only had a voicemail from them. But, I called right back and it was no issue - the HR rep I was speaking to said that seemed to be happening with cell phones, so it might not be a bad idea to list a home phone if you can. The interview lasted a grand total of five minutes, which also seems to be the standard. It seems like they're interested in making sure you can make an appointment and keep it. I was told I'd be getting more information on the next step in the hiring process, which for me was an immediate hire a few days later. It seems like that's not always the case. Most people get extended an offer for an in-store interview, but it all depends on the timing and which department you're interviewing for. In my case, I had applied for inventory processing and web fulfillment, which is more behind-the-scenes work, which means I wouldn't exactly be the face of the company and they didn't fully require seeing how I interacted face-to-face. However, I also applied right before the big Anniversary sale, and they really seemed to need people. But it was all pretty straightforward from there. I got an email containing all the information I needed about the paperwork, and had more than enough time to get it all done before the training session. Everyone was very friendly all the way through, the questions were pretty simple, etc. Nordstrom gets a rep for being pretty strict, but in my personal experience it was pretty relaxed and simple.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It was a mix of situational questions and opportunities to sell yourself. I got a little tripped up when she asked why I was interested in working for Nordstrom, and then immediately asked why I was interested in the specific position.
