I had a phone screen with the recruiter, which was pleasant. We had a great chat, she got me excited about the company and the role and we discussed next steps. The next step was a call with the hiring manger, which was scheduled. Before scheduling, I gave my availability and mentioned on the specific day and time, I had a hard stop after the 30 minutes which the coordinator noted. I waited 10 minutes after our scheduled time when I did not receive a call and wrote the coordinator and email saying that we need to reschedule, as I had a hard stop, it didn't make sense for us to connect that day. Immediately after I sent my email, I got a phone call from the hiring manager, I didn't pick up, as my time is JUST as valuable as hers, and I had already sent communication that we should reschedule. I got an email back saying " Well she said she called you at that time, but I will work on rescheduling" 10 minutes late is NOT the scheduled time. If I was hired and pulled this with a client, the client would not be happy. I totally understand that meetings run late, but send an email that you have to hop on the call late. Use common courtesy! The following day I got an email that they were removing me from the process due to the position being put on hold. Maybe that's true, maybe its not. But regardless, the hiring manager should have personally apologized for her tardiness and not place the blame on me...you were late, own it, you'd expect me to do the same with a client, why wouldn't you treat candidates with the same respect?
