I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Nordstrom in Dec 2009
Interview
I was a former seasonal employee at Nordstrom back in 2006. I applied online for a different location closer to my home. The same evening, I got an email that told me they wanted to schedule a phone interview and directed me back to the application website to pick a time and day. Once I did that, I got a confirmation email. On the day of the interview, HR actually ended up calling me a 15 minutes later than scheduled. The interview was very brief, just a few questions. I didn't get a call back... she asked me if I could be flexible with my schedule and I said no because of my class schedule.
So easy, I went to a job fair and was hired on the spot. They need people in the kids department, that's the easiest section to get into. They just ask about your personality and who you are.
Was inside Barton creek mall, hiring manager was prompt and clear with questions ranging from how I would handle difficult customers, to my personal experiences that could apply to the job.
