I had the most bizarre interview in my career.
I had a first interview via phone by a manager of Nordstrom Irvine Spectrum that turned me down because she decided to move forward with internal hiring. When she declined me, she went ahead to criticize my answer to one question about improving morale of the employees.
She thought my answer wasn’t specific enough. She assumed that I do not have much experience based on that question when in fact, she did not make follow-up question to find out more. She was just pacing with her prepared questions without follow-ups; without a real interactive conversation. There is silence after my responses. Either she was note taking or doing something else. She was merely reading her prepared interview questions. She was 10 minutes late on the appointment and did not recognize her tardiness.
Before I could respond to her feedbacks on the follow-up phone call to decline my application, she proceeded by inviting me to a hiring event for entry levels, seasonal positions. It appears that because I failed her interview, my qualification and experiences were devalued to just an entry level position. It is such an absurd practice by Nordstrom in hiring management positions.
