The in person interview wasn't too challenging and the manager, Josh, was nice. Asked questions like what experience I have and how much wine knowledge I would be willing to learn. This is a serious serving job and the restaurant is extremely busy at nights.
I applied online. I interviewed at North Italia (Walnut Creek, CA)
Interview
I have over five years of experience in the restaurant industry, including Italian-American restaurants. I applied before the restaurant opened because I have always wanted to work for North Italia, drawn to their culture and food. The manager I spoke to was friendly and professional, and I appreciated learning more about their operations.
After my second interview, I felt that my skills and potential aligned well with the company, and I was excited about the possibility of joining the team. That said, the hiring process could be more structured and transparent. I interviewed with BOH management when applying for a server role, but it would have been helpful to also meet the FOH management team. Clearer feedback on the decision would have been appreciated.
Overall, North Italia has a strong brand and team, and with improved hiring processes, it could be an even better experience for candidates.
They will invite you back for 2 interview and you will have to study the menu and the wines. It is a really intense memorization process once you are hired so make sure that you are good at that.
