Work on fair hiring structures to mitigate bias.. My friend and I applied for this position around the same time. I sent my application before her. She gets a phone screening and I don’t, so I assume I wasn’t considered. A month later I get an email inviting me to a PANEL INTERVIEW— where was the phone screening for me? My friend had the panel interview about a week before mine. So basically it was as if I skipped the first interview.. So I have my panel interview and then I call my friend to talk about our experiences. She had COMPLETELY DIFFERENT INTERVIEWERS (2 of the 3 panel interviewers never even conducted an interviewer before). The most annoying thing was that she had completely different questions from mine— and we applied for the SAME position. My questions were specifically about prior experience developing programs and handling crisis management (one would need more experience than I had to answer these). Her questions were more behavioral and student-centered. Congrats to my friend for moving on, but the lack of consistency in this process reveals a lot of red flags.
