I used to work at Northern Trust, until a layoff in the fall of 2024. Re-applied to Northern Trust in early 2025. The HR department quickly called me, and set up interviews for the following week with the department in question. Had two interviews, one with the senior manager, and the other with two managers on the team. Given that this all happened in 8 days, I figured I'd hear something relatively quickly, but no, I heard nothing. Not a thing. For weeks. So I reached out to find out what the outcome was, and received an email - not about the job I applied for, but about a completely different position that was for an Associate Analyst position, THREE LEVELS BELOW what I once was and what I had applied for.
Given that I used to work at Northern, and never had a bad review or any other issues, I figured I would at least receive some courtesy in re-applying to the company, but instead received what amounts to an insult. Northern Trust is thus removed from my job search and I'm not sure I would recommend anyone work there, despite my experience actually being positive as an employee.
