I actually enjoyed the interview process. Very intelligent people with good energy working for the Northern Trust team. I have a lot of knowledge in my field so I didn't have a hard time answering the situational questions that were given to me. Oddly enough though, the INTERNAL recruiter completely rubbed me the wrong way to the point of me declining the offer. I was interviewing with several other companies during this time. However the recruiter kept calling me to get me to commit to a verbal agreement because he didn't want to get into a "bidding war." Fair enough, I understand that angle, but when i temporarily tabled the money conversation and said i wanted to explore all my options before an agreement. He then went into this car salesmen pressure speech about how there will always be a better job, and a bunch of other personal nonsense that frankly was uncalled for from a recruiter. Any person with solid credentials wants to explore options before committing to a position and just something about the obnoxious SalesTactic for Dummies "DO. YOU. WANT. THIS. JOB?" prompts, and the predictable tactics of saying they were coming in 5k under my asking salary completely turned me off from considering the job and hope i never have to go through such a recruiter again.
